Welcome! I’ve had the great opportunity to work for some fantastic companies in various capacities and have learned an immense amount in the process.<\/p>\n

Background<\/strong><\/h4>\n

I started out in the theatre (where I learned the basics of what turned out to be project management<\/a>). Eventually, due to the recession, I went back to school and got my grad degree in communications.<\/p>\n

Before grad school I would sew costumes by day and blog by night. Digital writing and media stuff seemed to be my jam, so in grad school I took the opportunity to develop those skills and chose media and writing as my area of emphasis.<\/p>\n

The best advice I have ever seen about developing a skill set is to do it every day, no matter the product. That’s how I feel about writing, analytics, and research. At this point, I have written so many words online, I could publish a novel or two. I also spend in-depth time with numbers looking at web analytics and performance and even competitive market research.<\/p>\n

My graduate education lead to an agency job, experience writing for Ancestry.com, and other opportunities on a freelance basis. Eventually I was hired at University of Utah Health where I have been for the past while. I started writing web content<\/a> there and quickly progressed to content management, project management, and personnel management. I enjoy all of these things immensely.<\/p>\n

In 2017 I certified for my PMP (project management professional certification) as well as a Scrum Master certification. This was a great accomplishment and I immensely appreciate the support leadership gave me towards achieving this goal. I use project management regularly in my job managing projects in addition to content management and governance<\/a>.<\/p>\n

More recently, I worked as a co-inter-rim director for our digital experience team while we finished the installation of a new content management system while maintaining a heavy workload supporting our business partners in the organization.<\/p>\n

Present<\/strong><\/h4>\n

I continue to seek out new experiences presenting at conferences<\/a>, serving on community boards, the HBR.org advisory council (as part of an audience research group), and teaching seminars to train fellow digital experience aficionados.<\/p>\n

The more recent upheaval to SEO (search engine optimization) as it morphs into GEO (generative engine optimization) has brought me (and the industry) back to a core reckoning of what it means to interact with the digital world.<\/p>\n

It’s an exciting time to be online in this brave new world.<\/p>\n
