Key Structural Elements<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
There are a couple of key elements to the housewives’ show structure. Each housewife has the following: <\/p>\n\n\n\n
- \n
- A tag line<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Talking head interviews cut between on-screen action<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Outrageous and controversial glam styling<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
It took some brainstorming, but we identified our taglines. Since we have named our abode Chez Flamant (House Flamingo), we had an easy franchise name as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We took a week or two to refine our taglines. I know they seem simple, but you try it.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n That just left the outrageous glam styling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Glam Styling<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
When it came to the styling, we really focused our visuals around a sort of snow queen aesthetic. We vacillated between candy cane red and white or a more turquoise blue and silver tinged snow-flake inspiration for our makeup. (Red is difficult to do right\u2014so turquoise silver it was!)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I ordered a couple white hair wigs and decided I was going to style them\u2014HAH. Thank goodness for pins and the fact that this was a photoshoot. The hair hardly stayed in place. But IT WAS A START. Wig styling is not something I spend a lot of time on in my studies or work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I actually ordered a couple of white bath poufs, which I used to shape my beehives around.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n ![\"\"](\"https:\/\/jenbrassjenkins.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/wig-cap-realness.jpg\")
Wig cap realness. We did pin curls and everything, pulling our hair back. Also, you can see we applied that sparkle and highlight liberally.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n A Note on Makeup<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
There are a lottttt of different makeup brands in our collections. I have my standbys, which I rely on: <\/p>\n\n\n\n
- \n
- Powder foundation (mineral\u2014can’t remember where I got it)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Transparent powder for general makeup setting, Ben Nye<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Ben Nye highlight palette with glittered colors of all kinds<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Pat McGrath eyeliner, mascara, and eye shade palettes<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- MAC lipsticks<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
Then we just had some standard rhinestones glued on with eyelash glue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sub-Themes<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
We did have a couple sub-themes running through the story: Nutcrackers and gingerbread houses. Obvi the gingerbread houses represented the “house” aspect of the “housewives” story and the small nutcrackers were actually a call out to my 2021 holiday decorating theme: nutcrackers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Amp must be involved in everything, but the camera is not his main audience<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n So there we are, two housewives, glamorous, based in Salt Lake City, and vulnerable\u2014not too shabby.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
